Isn`t it more fancy to study iPS cells, learning about virus therapy, or diseases?
Where is the reason to learn old, boring chemistry?

Well, all biological phenomena are essential chemical reactions.
Thus, to really understand those topics one has to study chemistry.
Chemistry is underlying the life processes; thus it is not boring but essential, while physical chemistry provides us with the algorithms and mathematical equations to model these processes.
Unfortunately, even many scientists forgot about this simple truth, but some universities are determined to strive forward in this area.

“Everything made by human hands looks terrible under magnification--crude, rough, and asymmetrical. But in nature every bit of life is lovely. And the more magnification we use, the more details are brought out, perfectly formed, like endless sets of boxes within boxes.”
